    The Missouri Compromise was an agreement between the North and South. passed by congress in 1820 that allowed Missouri to be admitted as the 24th state in 1821.

    Scott lost the decision. 7 out of 9 Justices declared no slave or descendant of a slave could be a U.S. citizen. As a non-citizen the court said, scott had no rights. He could not sue in a Federal court and must remain a slave.
