    Departure
The titanic was the largest ship in the world at that time. Its mission was to sail from Southampton in England to New York. The date of departure was April 10, 1912. This ship was said to be the safest ship ever built because it had double bottoms and sixteen watertight compartments. Another name for the titanic was “the gigantic life boat.” It held 2,201 passengers that consisted of men, women and children. All passengers were eager to arrive to New York.
  • SOS

    SOS
At this time about 660 people are in life boats and 1,500 on the sinking ship. Phillips, the first operator, continues sending “41–46 N.; 50–14 W. CQD—CQD—SOS—SOS——” an SOS signal in hopes someone would come to their rescue. While the band still continues to play many begin to pray while others run in a panic. The Titanic stern slowly lifts from the water. People cling to the boat while some jump into the icy waters. The band plays there last song into the freezing water.
  • Titanic Sinks

    Titanic Sinks
At 2:17 A.M. The lights flicker out and the only light people had came from the stars. At 2:20 A.M. The Titanic officially sunk. People were left swimming for their lives in the freezing water, slowly dying in a panic.
  • Iceberg Ahead!

    Iceberg Ahead!
On the night of April 14, just before midnight everything took a turn for the worst. The Titanic hit an enormous ice berg. Many people were asleep and the ones who weren’t thought that the Titanic was unsinkable so they didn’t pay any mind to it. Although impact was almost unnoticeable and undetected by most, the hole made by the ice berg was massive. In only seconds the iceberg ripped a three-hundred-foot hole in the bottom of Titanic.

    Life Boats
The life boats were set out and women and children were called. Life preservers are tied on to passengers but many didn’t pay mind because they felt that the boat was unsinkable. The seriousness of the situation was not comprehended by the passengers until rockets and flares were launched into the sky. Meanwhile, band played ragtime on the deck to keep passengers calm. Once people realized that the Titanic was sinking everyone began panicking and rushing to life boats.
  • Survivors

    Survivors
The life boats that were sent before the Titanic sank were far enough away from the suction of the ship. But they were poorly equipped and unevenly loaded. By the time someone sent a boat to pick up the swimming survivors many were already frozen to death. The boats that went too early to help were swarmed by panicking people.

    News recieves morris code
It wasn’t until Monday that the SOS call for help sent by the Titanic was heard. It was the heading of every paper. Thankfully the Carpathia saved the stranded people in life boats and brought them safely ashore in New York City.
  • The Californian Ship

    The Californian Ship
Despite the wrongs the Titanic did, many people were infuriated with the Californian ship. This ship was 10 miles from the titanic and had done nothing to help or save the freezing passengers. They claimed that they did not see the Titanic lights and flares in the distance. They also said they never got the SOS message because there radio operator was asleep. If the Californian had attempted to help the passengers of the Titanic, the casualties would have been a lot less than what they were.

The Titanic was ill equipped and carried only enough life boats for one third of the passengers aboard. Also those life boats were poorly loaded with passengers. Only 711 people were saved. They were poorly loaded because there were no assignments made for seating in life boats in case of emergencies. This caused the large panic. The Titanic also ignored all warnings saying hazard of ice and remained traveling at twenty two knots.
