During this time, John Adams ran against Thomas Jefferson. Adams was a Federalist and Jefferson was a Republican. In the end, Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr both ended up winning an identical amount of votes which led to the House of Representatives to choose who would become president. -

The Capital was moved from New York, to Philadelphia, to it's final remaining location, in Washington D.C. where it still continues to exist today. -
