    The fugitive slave act was est. in 1850. This act included white slave owners going into the north and stealing free slaves and taking them back to the slave to use them or sell them. This scared the slaves that were living in the north. Abraham was not ok with this act and knew he had to stop it if he ever got the chance. This was one of the reasons that the civil war starts

    Uncle Toms Cabin was a book written by Harriet E. Beecher. This book was a great book in the north. It was a story about how a little boy dealt with slavery, which totally backed their claim. Even though the south loved this book the south banned it. Showing society the truth about slavery was not an option. They needed any of the votes they could get. Banning the book didn't mean no one in the south didn't get their hands on it lots of slave owners changed their minds and released their slaves.

Steven Douglas was fighting and using violence to stop or fight the problem. This lead up to the Kanas-Nebraska act. Which had popular sovereignty be the deciding factor of the conflict. Popular sovereignty is the vote on the what the estates wanted to do. This sounded like a great plan but invited southerners and northerners to vote for what they wanted.

The event took place in the north and the south. The outcome of the election showed just how fragmented the nation had become. The south seceded. The cause is that six southerners did not like that Lincoln won. The effect is that Lincoln controlled them.
