Jayavarman VII defeats the Chams and expands the Khmer Empire to its furthest extent to incorporate much of modern day Laos, Thailand and Burma. -

Rule of Jayavarman VII. He renounces Buddhism and orders that Buddhist temples and realted images are to be destroyed, and that Hinduism is to become the main religion. -
Around 1200, the Empire began to fall since the empire was so big, paying all of the people including military was a big ask – at the time King Jayavarman VII was King.

Buddhism grows in importances and once again becomes the main religion of the Khmer Empire.
