World War ll was in action. My grandmother's uncle went to fight in the war at age eighteen, which was underage at the time. His father, her grandfather signed for him to go.

Her family discussions were constantly centered around the war and were always talking about Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the current president, and Winston Churchill on how to resolve the current situation.

Talk of some friends and family being held as prisoners, referred to as P.O.W., however worse news came when her uncle, Kenneth, age nineteen was killed in action.

Was a best-seller, however, the style of parenting written about in the book was frowned upon by many parents. They way her sister raised her daughter was unlike any other parenting she knew about, which in the long-run, was not benificial to the child.

She knew there was another war, this time with North Korea. Her sister graduated high school and intented to enlist into the W.A.F. (Women's Air Force). After enlisting she was in a plane crash enroute to San Antonio, Texas. Thankfully she survived and spent the next two years in the service.

A relief to know family and friends were coming home from a dreadful war.

A very welcome invention because many were victims of Polio, among them being a classmate. Seeing people in an ironlung machine, knowing that that was there means of breathing was heartbreaking. Her classmate was crippled and on crutches as long as she could remember. She did survive, even though she had her legs amutated.

Little did she know that this magazine (smut) would still be a much read publication today. She remembers some of her boy classmates sneaking them into textbook to read during class. A shocking and upsetting sight for her innocent and naive eyes. DISTGUSTING!!!

She remembers hearing about it and wondering how anybody could run that fast. The four corner relay in P.E. was about all she could do.

She was devastated by the news of James Dean's fatal accident as a famous actor in his brief career he captured the hearts of many teens. They could all relate to him, it was a loss to the movie industry and to youth.

The family faithfuly watched the Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday nights and much to her suprise, when Elvis was introduced and did his number her jaw dropped and she told her mother to come and see....unbelievable. However, he became one of the best entertainers, not to mention being called "the King". She was fortunate to see him live before he died.

Hula hoops became popular for young and old. A great device for excercise, fun, and competition. The secret was keeping it going, which she never got the hang of. She turned eighteen and graduated high school during this year.

One of the best musicals ever performed, eventually becoming a movie that still plays today. The history of the true story still lives on, even with our visit to the Von Trapp resort in Vermont. Seeing this movie every year still affects her.

Seeing this movie frightened her to the core, which caused her to never want to see a horror movie again. It was emotionally devastating.

Standing at her job in Minneapolis, Minnesota a costumor informed her of the assination of the current president, John F. Kennedy. She couldn't explain the rush that came over her and th horror upon realizing what had happened. The streets of the city were bare and nobody could speak or even concentrate. It was a horrible day.

A tragic happening causing her to wonder why we continuelly persue space. The money spent and risks taken seemed to her to be over-estimated.

Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. were both assinated during this time. Another devestating loss to our country and to our people. On June 8, 1968, the day my grandma and grandpa were married was the day they transported Robert Kennedy to his home by train. Another historical time of sadness, even though we celebrated starting their new life together.

A heart- wrenching tragedy seen on the news however she didn't watch much update being a mother of a newborn and caring for house and husband. It did not affect them directly.

This was a huge milestone in the life of tennis. Arthur Ashe is an excellent athlete and outstanding tennis player. A humble and talented human being with much poise and grace. He was and is respected still today.

There were too many hostages in Tehran for too long and attempts to free them were not successful up to this point. It seemed like a never-ending saga.

She thought Elvis Preseley's gyrating was something to be shocked at, however when she came through the door one day seeing her children watching Michael Jackson's Thriller she could barely believe her eyes. To be honest it eventually grew on her and she enjoyed watching it.

What a tragic loss to many families and friends and to the space program because of this unexpected shocking explosion. Watching it live on the news was hard to grasp. It will never be forgotten in history.

Many people were startled to think of what could happen with the new age coming before their eyes and wondering if computers would crash or things would have trouble changing from the 1900's to 2000. Every country had their extravagant celebrations on New Year's Eve each trying to top the other. Nothing crashed and nothing quite and that was eleven years ago:).

Brutal, unexpected, fatal attack on our whole country by enemy Muslims trying to prove a point that we, the U. S. are infidels. This has afffected our whole nation as a whole and brought us into a war that continues today. God Bless our troops an bring them home soon.
