Timeline of My Exposure to Traditional and New Media

  • Books

    Books
Same year with CRT TV was books. It is the second type of media that I have encountered since 2009, when I first went to school. Books contain a lot of lessons and stories that give information and new knowledge to the reader. I still prefer books rather than E-Books because it can not strain our eyes easily.
  • Cathode-ray Tube TV

    Cathode-ray Tube TV
From what I remember, cathode-ray tube television (CRT TV) was the first type of media that I encountered before books. CRT TVs have a small flat-screen plasma and a body at the back. For me, its body is bigger than its screen, so we used to tap its body when the signal got weak.

For me, transistor radios nowadays are only useful when there is an emergency because we can now access the radio through our phones.
  • Magazine

    Magazine
The first time I encountered a magazine was when my sister was collecting TotalGirl Magazine. Magazines contain articles and stories mostly about celebrities. What I like about magazines is that I can cut out a colored picture of my favorite celebrities.
  • Smart TV

    Smart TV
A smart TV is an innovation of CRT TV; it does not have a big body and has a wider screen. Smart TV is an Internet-connected, storage-aware computer specialized for entertainment. What I like most about smart TVs is their ability to access apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify.
  • Smart Phone

    Smart Phone
A smart phone can do more than make phone calls and send text messages. They are touch-screen devices that can browse the Internet and run software programs like a computer. Vivo Y53 was my first smart phone, and now I am using RealMe 6. What I like best about smart phones is that they are an example of technological convergence and are convenient to use. Also, it allows us to access different social medias.
  • E-Book

    E-Book
    • Wattpad is a platform where anyone can publish and/or read stories.
    • ReadEra is an app that is also used to read stories, and it can access different types of formats like PDF, DOCX, TXT, etc. I really enjoy using these apps to read books since it is more convenient. However, I can strain my eyes easily.

  • Laptop

    Laptop
A laptop is like a portable type of personal computer that you can bring anywhere. When the pandemic started, it was my first time having a laptop because it was needed for my online class, and for me, a laptop is very helpful. With the use of a laptop, I can easily access Google Meet and Google Classroom rather than using cellphones to access them.
