    This is significant because it causes WWI to start. Austria was not happy with the way Serbia handled the assassination, so Austria declared war on Serbia.
  • Russia gets involved in the war

    This is significant because it creates sides. The secret alliances come out, and countries are forced to take sides.
  • Germany develops battle strategy known as the Schlieffen Plan

    This was significant because if it has worked it could have ended the war. Although it failed when Germany was not fast enough.
  • Asia and others enter the war

    This is significant because it provided both sides with more power. This split the war into two major sides, The Central Powers and The Allies.
  • America joins the War

    America joins the fight after British ship “Lusitania” carrying 128 U.S. citizens is shot down by German submarine. This is significant because it causes America to get involved swaying the powers drastically.
  • WWI becomes a total war

    This is significant because that means all resources were put into the war. Rations were made and people were getting very poor, lives at home were at stake.
  • Russia backs out of the War

    This is significant because Russia was a main source of men and ammunition. Also, this allowed Germany to put all of their effort towards fighting on the West Front.

    This is significant because it means that the war could end. The Central powers are going to win.

    This is significant because it forces Kaiser Wilhen II to step down. Germany and France sign the Armistice.

    This is significant because the first World War was over. Also, many countries were brought to internation power because of this Great War.
