    The colonists elected representatives for their legislature. It was in Virginia.
  • Britain won a costly war

    Britain won a costly war
    The cost ledt Britain in debt. Parliament then thought of the colonies as a good source of money.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This law banned settlement in certain lands. The purpose was to reduce some of the tension between the Native Americans and the colonists
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This law stopped the smuggling of goods into the colonies. This gave the British navy the right to search their ships
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This law made a tax on every paper good. Like stamps, cards, paper, important documents, etc.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    Soldiers now had the right to live in the colonist's homes, and be cared by them
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Parliament now had the right to pass laws for the colonists in "all cases whatsoever"
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The tea act monopolized all other tea industries by making it possible to only buy tea from The East India Company

    The colonists felt it was necesarry to seperate from Britain. They formed a document called The Declaration Of Independence
