    This election was, for the first time, a tie, in which was taken to the House of Representatives where Thomas Jefferson won over Aaron Burr. As well, there was a new amendment (12th) because of this.

    This act, issued by president Thomas Jefferson, stated that the US would not trade with any foreign countries. It was disliked by many people.
