Sugar act
The sugar sugar act was very high taxes on sugar, and other products from the American colonies. The colonies were very upset and protested against it. -
Stamp act
The stamp act had colonist pay a tax on different papers, documents, and many others. People where furious and began boycotts and attacks on the tax collectors. -
Declaratory act
The act was to show the american colonists that the British parliament did have a right to tax them, showing them they have the power. The colonist ignored the act but toned down the boycotts. -
Townshend act
The Townshend act had taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. This made the colonist even more mad giving them the idea to stop buying imported British goods to avoid paying the taxes on them. -
Tea act
The tea act was designed to save East India Company from bankruptcy by lowering the price of tea tax paid to the British government. The colonist were mad because they felt British merchants had an advantage in selling their tea. They then planned to boycott. -
Revolutionary war
The revolutionary war was when 13 of Britain's North American colonies overthrew their English government. The colonist wanted to get away from British control.
