  • Establishment of the East India Company

    On December 31, 1600, the East India Company was established to be used to trade in the Indian Ocean.
  • Founding of Jamestown, Virginia

    On May 13, 1607, Jamestown, Virginia was founded, being named by the English after their king.
  • Founding of the Colony Quebec

    On July 3, 1608, Quebec, a French colony, was founded by Samuel de Champlain.
  • Marriage of John Rolfe and Pocahontas

    On April 5, 1614, John Rolfe and Pocahontas married. This lead to peace between the colonists and Indians.
  • Smallpox Epidemic

    From 1618 to 1619, the smallpox epidemic wipes out around ninety percent of the Native Americans in the Massachusetts Bay area.
  • Signing of the Mayflower Compact

    On November 11, 1620, the Mayflower Compact was signed by the Puritans.
  • The First Thanksgiving

    In 1621, the first Thanksgiving is held by the pilgrims and the Wampanoag tribe.
  • The Indian Massacre of 1622

    On March 22, 1622, Chief Opechancanough and the Powhatan Confederacy attempted massacre the colonists. As a result one third of the colony were killed.
  • Beginning of the Pequot War

    July 20, 1636, war started between the Pequot tribe and their allegiance against the Massachusetts, Plymouth, and Saybrook colonies.
  • Harvard College is Founded

    On October 28, 1636, Harvard College is founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  • End of the Pequot War

    On September 21, 1638, the war ended due to the treaty of Hartford.
  • A Capital Crime

    In 1641, witchcraft is made a capital crime.
  • Attack on Jamestown

    On April 18, 1644, the last of the Indian rebellion attack the English at Jamestown, however, they fail.
  • Legalization of Slavery

    In 1650, slavery was legalized in Connecticut.
  • First Law on the Restriction of Slavery

    On May 18, 1652, Rhode Island passes a law that restricts slavery. This made slavery illegal for more than ten years.
  • The Peach Tree War

    On September 15, 1655, the Peach Tree War begins.
  • The Navigation Act

    On September 13, 1660, the Navigation Act is passed by the British Parliament.
  • The Seizing of New Netherlands

    On September 8, 1664, the British seize New Netherlands from the Dutch.
  • King Philip's War

    On June 20, 1675, King Philip's War begins with the Metacom Indians' attack on colonial settlements.
  • The Indian War Ends

    On August 12, 1676, the Indian War Ends.
  • Burning of Jamestown

    On September 19, 1676, Jamestown is burned due to Bacon's Rebellion.
  • Establishment of Pennsylvania

    On June 23, 1683, the colony of Pennsylvania is established.
  • THe Abandoning of Jamestown

    In April of 1699, Jamestown is abandoned due to the burning of the statehouse.
  • The Cascadia Earthquake

    On January 26, 1700, The Cascadia earthquake caused a tsunami to hit the coast of Japan.
