    Chrisopher Columbus's first voyage occured in 1492 (he sailed the ocean blue).His goal was to find a passage, leading to a journey to find a western sea route to China, India, and the fabled gold and spice islands of Asia.

    Jamestown was the first English settlement in the new world. It was an important event in history because it opened up the gates of settlements, and was also known as the birthplace of America.

    The Mayflower Compact was the agreement signed in 1620 by the pilgrims in Plymouth. It was signed to consult each other about laws for the good of the colony and a promise to work together and make it successful.I was iportant because it it brought the Pilgrims together and allowed them to build their colonies.r

    The Industrial Revolution started within the 1750's century, and there was no exact start date.It was a time period where factories began, and trains started their engines.It was an enoormus change within their society. Also it had it's bad side, the kids that were not working in factories, were sitting home not getting an education or anything done. This effected the way the childeren grew up and the way they would raise their childeren in the future.

Although Britian won the war, the treaty of Paris was The war ended in 1763, seven years long.The treaty of Paris was also known to be the end to the battle.

    The Treaty of Paris of 1763, ended the French and Indian war, and kicked out the French from the United States.They now had no controll over it.It was signed by Great Britian, France, and Spain.

    The Stamp Act was basically a huge tax on documents, and newspaper. It was a way to extract money from the colonists.They had to pay tax on every paper that they used.(that included the daily ones too) Also the papers had tp have a special stamp on them, that came from England.

    The Quartering Act (1st), stated that the colonists had to allow British soldiers to openly enter their homes when needed, also to provide provisions like food, water, etc.

    The Boston Massacre was a killing of five colonists by British redcoats. It all started when some colonists happened to get mad at the way things were run, and they took it out on the redcoats. Of course the redcoats started fire and killed five colonists, which were Crispus Attucks, Patrick Carr, Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, and James Caldwell

    The Boston Tea Party was a dump of loads of tea from ships at Boston, Harbor. It was mainly caused from the effect of the Stamp Act in 1765 (and many other events like the boston massacre, but not mainly).There were many of colonists that had enough of England and paying taxes to them, and the tea. So they dumped it overboard from a ship that was loaded with tea. Then the British redcoats saw, and they closed Bosto Harbor.

    This Quartering Act allowed British soldiers to board in occupied homes, but unlike the first, the colonists dont have to provide food, water, etc..This was a big deal in history because this was time where Britian was in controll. Also the term "No taxation without representation" started from this quartering act.

    The Westward Expansion (Manifest Destiny)
    The Westward Expansion was when Daniel Boone, and his "crew" were wanting to expand west,or from coast to coast..But the land is already taken by the Shawnee Native Americans, and they were not going to let someone just come and claim the land. They had to protect it. Then on this date, Boone crosses it over to Shawnee territory, and they attack his crew leaving him only with his one friend.Boone keeps on going. This went on until 1861.

    The Revolutionary War started with a battle at Lexington, Massachusetts ( Battle of Lexington and Concord).It was a war with the United States and Great Britain. It was fought for power over the 13 colonies.Colonists were frustrated because Britain forced them to pay taxes, yet did not give them any representation in the British Parliament. Then the term; "no taxation without representation" started to be used.

    The Declaration Of Independence was a document written by Thomas Jefferson. I t was issued declaring the colonies indepencence from England.The colonies wanted to be separated and have their own controll.This was an important event in history because it led us into starting our own lives. Without this we would probably still be part of England.

    The Articles of Confederation were ratified on this date. The final Draft was written in 1777. The Articles were written to estabish functions in the national goverment, after declaring Independence from Britain.

    The Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolution, and also forced Britian to recognize The United States an an independent nation, and have no controll over what is happening in the U.S unless asked for any trades, alliences, etc.

    Drafted by James Madison, The Virginia Plan was proposed by Edmond Randolph.It helped establish the U.S Constitution,and Checks and Balances to reduce the abuse of power within the three branches of government. It also describes 2 houses; one with members elected by the people(3 terms), and the other with members that are older and are elected by the legeslative(7 terms).

    The Northwest Ordinance provided a method for bringing in new states into the Union. People in the Union wanted it to expant to the Pacific, and hopefully find farmlands.They also wanted it to become as big as the original 13 states, so that many settlers and people from other nations would come and stay.

    Washington establshed the first cabinet,and set many precedents. He was the first president, which meant people looked up at him to follow his lead.His precedent of stepping down after two terms, showed that during presedency, the president shouldn't be like a "power hog" and keep on going past the two terms he was assigned.

    The Bill Of Rights was basicaly a limit in the goverment's power towards the people.It had many other reasons, but the general one was to limit power.It gave people their freedom, and clearly stated their rights. It also including the ten Amedments, that went in affect right away.

    Geoge Washington said in his Farewell Adress, that all of the people should avoid political parties and be warry of entaglements with other nations. He only had 2 terms as president so this speech was a "goodbye" and a warning for the people.It was an important act in history because he was the first president and he set precedents aswell as a farewell speech.

    The Alien and Sedition Acts, were laws that were passed by Federalists Congress, that wanted to silence and weaken the Democratic-Republican party.It was signed by President John Adams. The Alien act was passed in on July 6th, and the Sedition act on July 14th, both in 1798.

    The Monroe Doctrine was a document written by President James Monroe in 1823. It was a warning to the European Nations, telling them that the United States will not tolerate any problems, and stay out of all the affairs within the Western Hemisphere.

It was where the Indians all had to move out and it was also knowns to be a long painful journey to them.

Mexico still felt Texas was within their controll, so they were not happy with it.Sooner in 1846, the Oregon Treaty with Great Britain, that brought an end to the Oregon Boundary.Then they war with Mexico and the U.S broke out. It was victory for the U.S. Finally the battle ended with the Treaty Of Guadalupe--Hidalgo in 1848.

  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Emancipation Proclamation
    The Emancipatio Proclamation was issued by Abraham Lincon in 1863. It set all slaves in the Confederate stated free, and ened slavery entirely.(abolished it). Now the freed slaves had nowhere to go, some stayed on the plantations because they were so used to it and had no idea what to do next.This went in effect in the Later on years.
