    In November of 1952, Republcican Dwight D. Eisenhower gets elected as the next President of the Unites States of America. His Vice President is Richard M. Nixon.
  • Dien Bien Phu

    Viet Minh launces its first attack against the Frnech. This battle will last over a span of two months.
  • Vietnam Divided

    Vietnam is divided into two sperate parts, the north supported by the French and Ho Chi Minh, and the south supported by United States and South Vietnam. This two were split all because of the Geneva Accords.

    This began, I believe, was the most scary part of the war. The Guerrila Warfare became the dirtiest type of fighting. You could not tell who your enemies were. You were living in constant fear that basically anyone could attack you.

  • Johnson Visits South Vietnam

    Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson visits South Vietnam and offers them financial and military aid to Diem. At this point in the war the United States had 3,200 men in Vietnam.

    A service man was killed in Vietnam. This was the starting point for the Vietnam War.
  • Diem survives assissination attempt

    Two suicide bombers tried to take the life of the leader Diem. Diem would survive without harm to himself.
  • Diem Overthrown from Power

    South Vietnamese General Doung Van Minh overthrows Diem, the very next day he orders Diem and his brother to be executed.
  • USS Maddox

    While a US boat was on the open water a North Vietnamese ship attacked one of our boats just doing a basic patrol of international water. The United States was really upset over this.
  • Gulf of Tonkin

    The gulf of Tonkin was an important war in tthe Vietnam War. By the time August 7th rolled around, the war was resolved.
  • First US combat mission

    The first soliders arrived in Vietnam in 1965.
  • Student Card Burning

    This was one of many revolts by Americans not wanting to go to war. A couple of students burned their draft cards as a sign of rebellion against going to war.

    By this time in the war, the Americans had close to 500,000 soliders on foreign land.

    By this point in the War, Americans had close to 30,000 deaths.

    On this date in History President Nixon was elected into office.

    On this date in history, Ho Chi Minh dies at the age of 79.

    Congress vote to withdrawl all of the US troops out of Vietnam.
