Hiroshima

The United States drop an atomic bomb-. This was the first bomb to be used in war. The atomic bomb that hit Hiroshima killed 75,000 people instantlly and injured at least 100,000. This is important because this was the first atomic bomb used in the vietnam war.

"France and Ho Chi Minh sign the Geneva Accords, in which Vietnam is to be divided at the seventeenth parallel until elections can be held in 1956 to reunify the country. The South Vietnamese government and the United States refuse to sign, though both promise to abide by the agreement." This is very important because this is when the country was divided and they were in the middle of fighting for independence for vietnam.
