Another crop that was introduced to China during the 11th century were Indian green lentils. Indian green lentils were known for their large amount of yield and their seeds. These crops played a key process in China's southernization process.

During the Song Dynasty, compasses were also perfected, allowing Chinese sailors to map and travel the seas easier.
