Drunk and angry, Mark blogs about Erica and starts hacking into other Harvard Houses directories. He takes girls pictures and uses them in a website he calls "FaceMash," which allows guys to vote on who is hottest. In four hours "FaceMash" had 450 views and 22,000 votes. It was shut down for disrupting the Harvard Network. -
Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss Ask Mark For Help
After hearing about "FaceMash," brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, along with their partner Divya Narendra, approach Mark and ask for his help in creating "Harvard Connection," which would be a dating site for Harvard students. He agreed to help. -
Mark Comes Up With The Idea Of "TheFacebook."
Mark approaches his friend Eduardo Saverin with the idea of a website that allows you to post pictures, create a profile, and invite friends to join. It would not be a dating site. -
"TheFacebook" Is A Hit
When "TheFacebook" went live, over 650 students signed up on the first day. A common expression used around the time of the launch was, "Facebook me." -
The Winklevoss' Complain
After the launch of "TheFacebook," the Winklevoss brothers made an appointment with the President of the university, in hopes that he would do something about Mark and his website. The brothers claim that Mark stole their idea, but the President would not help. -
Mark and Eduardo Meet Sean Parker
Mark and Eduardo go to a resturant to meet Sean Parker, who created a music sharing website called "Napster" at the age of 19. Mark wanted his advise on how to continue with "TheFacebook." Sean suggested to drop the "The." Eduardo does not like Sean. -
"Facebook" Moves To California
After Sean suggests to Mark that coming to California with the company is the best move, Mark hires interns and gets a place in California for the summer. Eduardo had an internship and stayed in New York. Eduardo then quit his internship and arrives in California, only to find Sean is doing his jobs. Eduardo doesn't want Sean involved. -
The Angel Investment
Sean and Mark meet with Peter Thiel, who is an American entreprenuer and former CEO and Co-Founder of PayPal. He made a half a million dollar investment in "Facebook," and has started them in an office. -
Eduardo Gets Bad News
When Eduardo comes back to California for the million members party, he discovers that Mark issued 24 million new shares of stock. Eduardo's shares were diluted from 34.4% to 0.03%. No one else's shares were diluted. He filed a lawsuit against "Facebook," to take over the company.
