The Sugar Act was made to raise money for the crown. The Sugar Act cut the duty in half on foreign-made Molasses, placed a duty on certain imports, and made colonists be tried in a vice-admiralty court. This caused an uproar, causing the colonists to come together and form a protest. During their protest, colonists refused to use English-imported goods. The stamp act helped the growing movement toward the Revolutionary war.

The Quarting Act allowed soldiers to come into citizen's homes, eat their food, and stay the night. This caused the colonists to become angry and feel like the British were intruding on their personal spaces and preventing them from keeping soldiers distant. This caused them to come together and start to resist British rule which slightly intensified the want for independence.

Together the colonists secretly formed the Sons and Daughters of Liberty to protest. The colonists also thought that parliament lacked the power to impose laws on them because they taxed them without giving them representation. They boycotted British goods until the Stamp Act was repealed. The Stamp Act brought together the 13 colonies by giving them a common enemy.

The Boston Massacre was a street fight that happened between a mob of colonists and 5 British soldiers. The colonists were upset with the British because of the Townshend Acts. It ended with Parliament repealing the tax on everything but tea and the Royal governor pulling out the army from Boston. This would also lead to an armed rebellion in the colonies that turned into the Revolutionary War.

The Boston Tea Party was when Colonists from Boston dressed as Native Americans and dumped 18,000 pounds of British tea into the harbor. They did this to protest the Tea Act. This act allowed British tea sellers to sell without a tax but Colonist tea sellers had to pay a tax. The Boston Tea Party helped intensify the colonial support for the American Revolution and made them want to fight for independence.

The Intolerable Acts were a series of laws that shut down the Boston Harbor, allowed soldiers to stay in people's homes, and made General Thomas Gage the new governor of Massachusetts. In response to the Britsh, the committees of correspondence made the declaration of colonial rights. This said that the colonists had a right to fight back if the Britsh tried to fight them. This caused the outbreak of the Revolutionary War.

During the Revolutionary War, representatives of the United States of America got together. They talked about how the colonists had already separated themselves from British rule. They also talked about how if the government doesn't allow its citizens to have certain rights or freedoms, the citizens should be able to replace the government. lastly, they talked about how the colonists were forced to break their political connections with the British. This declared their independence.
