    The purpose of the stamo act was to pay off debt from the French and Indian war. This act had all legal and commercial documents carrying stamps that showed the tax had been paid. There were riots and stamp collectors were terrorized.

    This act taxed glass, paper, paint, and lead.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British soilders shot at an angry crowd of colonists. They killed five people.

    This act placed a tax on Tea. The colonists were very angry about this act.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a retaliation from the Tea Act. Colonists dressed up as Native Americans, boarded a British ship, and threw all the tea it was carrying into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerabel acts closed the port of Boston. It replaced the elected council with appointed officials. It increased the governor's power. Also, it allowed British officers to house troops in private dwellings. It protected British officials from being tried by colonists for their crimes and instead they were sent back to England where they got no real punishment.

    This meeting was to discuss breaking away from England. It had representatives from most colonies there. They voted to ban all trade with Britain. Also, they decided to have each colony train troops for defense.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    This was the battle that sparked the revolutionary war. It was between the British and a local Militia. This caused Paul Revere's midnight ride. This was the beginning of the war that would lead to America's freedom.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The representatives met in Philadelphia soon after the revolutionary war had begun. They approved a Declaration of Causes that outlined why colonists should take up arms.
  • Signing of Declaration of Indepence

    This was a letter sent to King George telling him America was going to be independent. It was signed in Philidelphia.
