  • French and Indidan War

    French and Indidan War
    The French and Indian War (the Seven Years War) was a war between the French and British for control of land west of the Mississippi river. The Indians helped the French and the colonists helped the British. They both also wanted control over the fish and fur trade with the Indians.The British won but know had a huge debt to pay.
  • Stamp act

    Stamp act
    After the French and Indian Wastamp act said that they had to pay taxes on many printed materials. They had to buy a stamp to show that they had payed the tax. The colonists thought this was unfair because they did not have a voice in the British parliament. That is why they said "no taxation without representation." They were also already paying local taxes for their government.
  • Townshend acts

    Townshend acts
    Parliament passed another act to pay of their huge debt. This act placed taxes on imported goods such as glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. This act angered the colonists very much. The sons of liberty tarred and feathered tax collecters.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A mob of angry, rebellious colonists start throwing snowballs at a group of British redcoats. One of the redcoats shoot into the crowd and a colonist dies. Eventually 3 colonists die and 8 are wounded but 2 of them later die. An engraving of it by Paul Revere spreads tension throughout the colonies.
  • Tea act

    Tea act
    Parliament repealed the townshend acts but they kept an act on tea to show that they could still tax the colonies. And also because they still needed money to pay of their debt from the war. People made liberty tea or cofee. This act lead to the Bodton tea party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Colonists who were part of the Sons of Liberty entered a British tea ship, dressed as Mowhak indians. They dumped 350 chests into the Boston Harbor. After this the king was really angry. He created the intolerable acts to punish the colonists.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    On September 5, 1774 delegates from every colony except Georgia met to decide what they were going tob do about the taxes. They met in Carpenter's hall in Pennsylvania. Many delegates voted to seperate from Britian and some voted to stay loyal to Great Britian. They decided to meet again in a year if things didn't get better.

    Paul Revere's Ride
    The British found out that the colonists were storing weapons in Concord so they march to get the weapons.Paul Revere finds out about the redcoats and rides to warn the colonists. The colonists get armed and fight the redcoats. These are the first battles of the American Revolution.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    Paul Revere warned the colonists about the British regular army coming. The militia quickly got ready and fought the british army. The British army was met by a small group of militia officers and a huge army behind them. These were the first battles of the American Revolution.
  • Decleration of Indpendence

    Decleration of Indpendence
    The second continental congress decided to write a Decleration of Independence. The first draft was written by Thomas Jeffereson but everyone made some changes. The Decleration of Independence listed 27 ways the king did not treat them fairly. It said that the colonies were now independent from Great Britian. 56 man signed the Decleration of Independence.
