    Social: Samuel Morse invents the telegraph which allowed messages to be sent over a wire.

    Social: James Watt designs a more efficient steam engine which becomes one of the most important inventions of the Industrial Revolution.

    Military: British Army soldiers kill 5 citizens.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Military: The Battle of Bunker Hill was the 1st major battlle of the Revolution.
  • Declaration of Independence is signed

    Political: The Declaration of Independence is signed which declared the 13 colonies free from Great Britain.
  • The French Alliance

    Political: The alliance between the American Colonies and France was finalized.
  • Toleration Act

    Political: Parliament approved the Toleration Act
  • Spain declares war

    Political: Spain declares war on Britain.
  • Bad harvest

    Economic: Harvests basically died due to very severe cold winters and many people went hungry.
  • Declaration of the Rights of Woman and Female Citizen

    Social: Rights that declared all men "are born and remain free and equal in rights" that were adopted by the National Assembly
  • Meeting of the Estates

    Economic: A meting of the Estates-General is called by Louis XVI to discuss and approve a new tax plan.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    Political Event: The 3rd Estate was locked out of the Estates-General meeting so they met at a tennis court and wrote their own constitution.
  • Storming of the bastille

    Political: A mob stormed the Bastille, a prison, looking for gunpowder and arms.

    Political: The French Constitution created by the National Assembly during the French Revolution.
  • Cotton Gin is invented

    Cultural: The cotton gin is invented by Eli Whitney which is a machine designed to remove cotton from its seed.
  • Napoleonic invasion of Russia

    Military: Napoleon invaded Russia.
  • Invention of the sewing machine

    Social: Elias Howe invents the sewing machine.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Cultural: A proclamation issued by president Lincoln giving slaves freedom.
