The battle took place on a hill in Charelston. The British drove the Americans of the peninsula. It was a big defeat to the Americans. -
Charleston
The British ship ,Thunder opened the attack on Charleston. Then eight more British gun boats came toward the American Contienetal Army at Fort Moultrie. In an hour more than 100 British covered the fort. The Americans resisted the attack. That night the British during the day long battle accepted a defeat. -

Rhode Island
The Battle of Rhode Island began on August 9, 1778, when 11,000 Continental line troops and militia crossed Howland’s Ferry. The French went under d’Estaing and blocked the small naval force at Narragansett Bay. When a big British army arrived they challenged the French. But a hurricane (August 13–14) destroyed their ships and the army's scattered. The British attacked on August 29. The Americans relized they couldn't cross the British line with out the French navy and had to withdraw. -

Battle of Yorktown
General George Washington, ordered a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops to fight in the battle later known as The Battle of York Town. Fighting against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and an army of 9,000 British troops at Yorktown, Virginia. This was most important battle of the Revolutionary War. After three weeks of non-stop fighting Cornwallis surrendered to Washington in the field at Yorktown on October 17, 1781, which ended the war for independence.
