Lexington and Concord
The Battle of Lexington and Concord took place when 700 Redcoats march in to to face 77 Minnutemen in Lexington, MA. They easily beat the Minutemen. The Redcoats march on to Concord, MA to face 400 Minutemen. The British retreat and this signals the beginning of the war. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The British won after three attemps to take over the Bunker Hill but lost a lot of men. The Minutemen were told "Do not shoot until you see the whites of their eyes" because they were low on ammo. The colonists gained confidence even though they lost. -
The Declaration of Independence
It gave individual rights to life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. These rights are frredoms protected by law. -
The crossing of the Delaware
Gen. Washington decided to surprise attack the British in Trenton, NJ. This lifted the soliders spirirts. -
The Battle of Saratoga
The U.S.won this battle due to the conditions in the forest. This allowed Ben Franklin to convince the French to become our allies. -
Valley Forge
Valley Forge is the birth place of "American Army." Lack of food and disease kill many. Gen. Washington chose this camp to keep an eye on the British and protect colonists in PA. -
The Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown signified the end of the war. The French Navy blocked the harbor so the British couldn't escape. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was the official signed document ending the war. The U.S got independence and more land.
