This portrait was made by Artemisia Gentileschi whom was an Italian artist from Italy. Artemisia was the daughter of Orazio Gentileschi, who was a major follower of the revolutionary Baroque painter Caravaggio. She was an important second-generation proponent of Caravaggio's dramatic realism. This piece stood out to me because it was very striking in the way of how dark it was and how powerful this woman was to just kill a man in such a way.

This painting was created by Giovanna Garzoni. Giovanna is an italian painter that began her career painting religious, mythological, and allegorical subjects but gained fame for her botanical subjects painted in tempera and watercolour. This painting really stood out to me because of the realism that she incorporates.
