An introduction of Ponyboy's brothers and friends
Sodapop and Darry save Ponyboy in time from Greasers, and here coms a brief introduction of them. Although Darry is his big brother, he likes Sodapop more. Because Sodapop tries to understand and trust his little brother, and Dally is so strict to him.Steve is Soda's best friend, Two-bit is the oldest one, Dally is more tougher,colder and meaner. Johnny is the most timid one......... -
Ponyboy gets jumped walking home from the movies(Chapter1)
After the movie, Ponyboy(The novel’s fourteen-year-old narrator and protagonist) went home alone, and there must hid some dangers around him. Because he is one of the Greasers, and there exist a major gap between the Socs
(The antagonist of Greasers) and Greasers. Therefore, I think this is alos a reason why it's importanat, because ponyboy gets jumped, and his friends came here to help him out of danger. After that a series of things occured. -
The first to meet Cherry (Chapter 2)
Ponyboy, Dally and Johny went to the movie, Dally began to molest Cherry, but Cherry didn't like him. While Darry bought coke for them, the rest of greasers had a conversation with those two girs, and knew them are Socs. From that conversation, I think Cherry felt Ponyboy is a nice person of Greasers. -
The feeling about Dally of Charry.
Actually, Charry has a good feeling about Dally. Although she felt Darry is a little dissolute, she still like him. Because she thinks his behavior is the same as her boyfriend, so she said she will love him next time. I think this might be the part of reason why Socs hit Ponyboy and Johnny after the movie. -
Different view between two Groups(Chapter 3)
I think the big difference between Socs and Greasers is they have different sense of value. Greasers are more emotional, but Socs are more sophisticated. They have had fights for a long time is not because of money, is the different emotion. -
Darry hits Ponyboy(Chapter 3)
I also think part is very important, Because Darry hits Ponyboy is kind like of a clue of next Chapter. Because he went home very late, so his big brother hits him, and he felt sad, so he run out . (Therefore, let's make a assume, If Darry didn't hit Ponyboy, Ponyboy will not run out, and he will not hang on with Johnny in the park. So he also won't meet these Socs and fight with them.Bob won't die anyway. Everything will be different) -
Bob was dead
It is almost 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning. Ponyboy and Johnny walk in the park, however, Bob and his friends drive a car to come here, Obviously, they must be here for Ponyboy and Johnny. Then two men put Ponyboy's head into the cold water, he was going to die, when he sat down, Bob was killed by Johnny. Although one of Socs was dead, they still felt afraid of that. Because they are too yong to afford this thing. -
Run!!!
This part is also very impeotant because they were very afraid, so they only can ask Dally for some help. If they run unsuccessfully, they will be arrested by the policemen, which is a hard hit to their family. -
Ponyboy unmwilling to cut his hair.
We all know that, hair is a symbol of Greasers, and his hair is as the same as sodapop's.They all put it at first. However, they had to cut their hair for surviving, or they will be easily to arrestted. -
Nothing gold can stay
One day they got up early and they wanted to see sunrise., both of them think that eas very beatiful, then Ponyboy said that "Nothing gold can stay",(a famous stanza of "Gone with the wind") which means we need to cherrish every beautiful and meaningful things arround our life because they can not stay a long time with you. This sentence is very imporant and special for Ponyboy, it reminds him of what he need to do. -
The church gets set on fire and Johnny run in to save some little kids, and then Dally runs in after to save Johnny.
The main and improtant part of this Chapter, Ponyboy and Johnny saw that the church was on fire. They went to there without hesitation to save the children. Later, Dally also came here, and all of the children were saved in time. We could know that, although Johnny killed Bob,he is also a nice person, -
Johnny received the heavy injury
Johnny is a hero, because he used his life to save others life. he is still young at that time. "He received the heavy injury" is kind like of powderhose of what will happen next, and it's also influenced Dally's feeling and emotion. -
An important conversation between Randy and Johnny.(Chapter7)
Randy came to Ponyboy's house and want to talk to him. Although Randy said he will not to save those children in church, Ponyboy do believe him will do the same way at that time. Then they talked about Bob, Randy said that he actually is a good person,because he is too perfect to no one criticize him. At last,he also said he don't want to fight with Greasers. That conversation shows me not only every factions have some good people, but also they all have a warm and peaceful heart. -
Johnny was in the hospital for treatmenting.
Nurse told them he was getting worst, and she don't want them to see how was he. We saw him at last. Because he was in danger, we need to comfort him very well. Although he even knew himself couldn't get better than berfore, he really don't want die, he has a lot of things to do, and he was too young. -
Everyone was ready for rumble
As best friend of Johnny, Dally and Ponyboy will try their best to fight with Socs. They want to revenge for Johnny, so they have to win in the rumble. From now, we can notice that, how the Johnny importance are, because of Bob's dead and Johnny's injury, those two gangs set their hatred on fire!!! -
Ponyboy argues and says he wants to go.
As a greaser, he had responsibilitity to fight with Socs for his gang. If greaser win the rumblethey will very pride of themselves because Socs have money, house and a lot of valuable things. This fighting fight for honor, and if Socs win they will laugh at them all the time. -
Rumble!!
It's time for rumble,the setting they fought is in a plot, the Greasers are 20 people, and Socs are 22 people, But the Randy didn't come, which made me a little surprise.( He is a real good guy, I think) and the rule of that is no weapon at all. Finally, Greasers won the rumble, This content is the most impotant part of this book(plot of this book). because it's the most obvious fight between Socs and Greasers, and also is a climax part. -
"stay gold" the last words of Johnny.
Ponyboy can't accepted the Johnny's dead, and he was always soliloquy of Johnny wasn't die after that. Stay gold means stay pure and good, and he also want Ponyboy always be like that.Because Johnny don't want Ponyboy do something careless and angrily,just keep a peacful heart and have enough emtion to treat anyone else.He also want him live happily and do not change his life condition easily. -
Dally dies
After Dally went to the hospital, he can't image that his best friend Johnny is gone. He became a little crazy, and he robbed a store. He is too crazy to stop, and the policemen shoot him when he ran into a empty space. This sound a little sad, but Dally was willing to die, he could always do something that he wants. I also know that he and Johnny must have a very closer friendship. -
"Gone with the wind"
Four days later, Darry said Johnny left him a book called" The gone with wind". This book is very important and special for Ponyboy, because Ponyboy first time to read it when they went to the church. The second time is when Johnny get hurt in the hosipital. He wants to read this book to let himself calm down. The last time is when Jonhnny die, he gives this book to Ponyboy. -
Randy came to see Ponyboy and they talked about Bob's dead.
Ponyboy stay at home and relax almost seven days. He always thinks about how Johnny killed Bob and Johnny was not dead. However, Randy came here to see him, and told him he will go to the court with them to explain Bob's dead. Ponyboy's emotion is very agitato and confused, which makes Randy leave his alone. Randy comes again, and I also think he is surely a nice person. -
They all go to the court and Ponyboy is allowed to stay with Darry.
Judje said Ponyboy was innocent and he could still live with their brothers. He also wish he could live like before.But all things are always different. His grade fell down a lot, and his English teacher is also very concerd about his grade. If he can write a very good essay, his final English mark will get a C.
Almost done, and every parts come to an end. -
Johnny's letter reminds Ponyboy of what he wants to write.
When Ponyboy open that book, and read the letter that Johnny left. He said Dally should go with Ponyboy to see the sunrise. But it's too late, and then he began to write"when i stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, i had only two things on my mind:Paul Newman and a ride home...." Everything go back to the origin, and it's over.
