    •	Ho Chi Minh founds Indochinese Communist Party
    French colonists ruled a lot of Asian countries such as: Viet Nam, Indochina, Laos or Cambodia.
    In 1930, French founded out the Indochinese Communist Party, they also knew that Ho Chi Minh - a leadership involved in this Party.
    After finding out that, French tried to put Ho Chi Minh in jail and condemned Ho Chi Minh to death for his rebellious activities and for growing independent movement for Viet Nam.

  • • U.S. Congress passes Gulf of Tonkin Resolution

    •	U.S. Congress passes Gulf of Tonkin Resolution
    After Viet Nam attacked the USS Maddox beginning the fight between USA and Viet Nam.
    With the anger, President Johnson wanted to launch bombing strikes on North Vietnam.

    Congress approved Johnson’s request, with only two senators voting against it, and adopted the Tonkin Gulf Resolution on August 7.

    In 1941, Ho Chi Minh came back to Viet Nam to help form for Viet Minh.
    Viet Minh is an organization whose goal was to take back the independence for Viet Nam.
    This independent goal became more reality after the Allied forced Japanese to leave Viet Nam and gave Viet Nam to French.

    In 1940 the Japanese took control of Vietnam.
    The next year, Viet Minh was established.
    But after that, the Allied defeat of Japan in August 1945 forced the Japanese to leave Vietnam

    After established the Viet Minh group, the Allied use power to force Japan get out of Viet Nam.
    The more French ruled Viet Nam badly, the more Viet Nam people want to have their independence back.
    On Sep 2, 1945, Ho Chi Minh stood in the middle of a huge croud in Hanoi and declared about independent VietNam.

    •	Eisenhower introduces domino theory
    French was about to lose in the war with Viet Nam so United State want to help French.
    Entering the White House in 1953, President Eisenhower established the policy of supplying aid to the French war effort.
    By that time, USA also had settled for the communists in Korea.
    Explaining about the domino theory, Eisenhower said that this theory is like, all the communism countries, if one of them fall, it would fall on other countries and another countries fall after that just like the domino game.

    •	Viet Minh defeat French at Dien Bien Phu
    After losing the war with Viet Nam, French could not retake Viet Nam.
    Viet Minh overran the French outpost at Dien Bien Phu.
    Then, there was a conservation between countries about the peace.

    The Geneva Accords divided Viet Nam into 17 parallels and into 2 separated part: the North and the South. The North Vietnam was controlled by Ho Chi Minh and the South Vietnam was controlled by Ngo Dinh Diem.

    Vietcong begun to attacked Ngo Dinh Diem government.
    This is a secret Communist group in the South Viet Nam, later the political arm of this group known as the National Liberation Front.
    Ho Chi Minh supported the group and established a a netwrok of paths called Ho Chi Minh Trail.

    •	Ngo Dinh Diem overthrown in U.S.-backed coup
    At that time, South Vietnam to remain stable, Diem would have to go.
    On November 1, 1963, a U.S.-supported military coup toppled Diem’s regime but, Diem was assassinated.
    The United States presidency—along with the growing crisis in Vietnam—now belonged to Lyndon B. Johnson.
  • • U.S. forces begin Operation Rolling Thunder bombing campaign

    •	U.S. forces begin Operation Rolling Thunder bombing campaign
    President Johnson used his newly granted powers.
    Johnson wanted to response to Viet Nam soon, so he was quickly unleashed “Operation Rolling Thunder,” the first sustained bombing of North Vietnam. I
    The first American combat troops began arriving in South Vietnam.
    By June, more than 50,000 U.S. soldiers were battling the Vietcong and made Viet Nam became Americanized.
