Then the colonists started to drink smuggled Dutch tea, to avoid paying the import duty on the tea.
The British then started to reduce the price on Indian te by transporting it directly from Inida to the colonists, which made the Indian tea much cheaper than the Dutch tea. But the tea was still taxed and many felt that drinking it would be a blow to their Liberty. -
