The Most Influencial Events in the 20th Century

  • Invention of Airplanes by the Wright Brothers

Invention of Airplanes by the Wright Brothers
The American Wright brothers invented the first airplane in the start of the 20th century. Airplanes affected the world in many ways, like warfare. For example, many wars were lost by the Arabs because Israelis had advantage in the air. America gave them airplanes which made the Arabs lose badly.
  • Balfour Promise

    Balfour Promise
The Balfour Promise shows how the British choose their words carefully so that they can show how strong they are. It is not really a promise since the British did not really promise anything; they just said they sympathize with the Jews. I believe that the Balfour Declatation encouraged the Jewish even more to get a homeland in Palestine. However, the British clearly said that the rights of the Palestians should never be affected by the Jews but the Jews disregarded this idea.
  • Paris "Peace" Conference

    Paris "Peace" Conference
The Paris Peace Conference's main aim was to end all wars after World War I, however, it made things worse. The winners of the war gathered in the conference to achieve peace but it only caused sadness, anger, mistreating and war. I believe that all wars that occured in the 20th century are caused directly by this Peace Conference that actually ended peace.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression
Following World War II, countries all over the world lost money severely. People worldwide were unemployed, hungry and therefore depressed. I believe it is one of the most vital events in the 20th century because it did not only affect the world in the 20th century, it still warns the world about how bad economy can get nowadays.
  • The Holocaust aka the Shoah

    The Holocaust aka the Shoah
The Holocaust is the genocide of millions of the Jews and the disabled led by Hitler during WWII. If the Holocaust did not take place, people would not have sympathized with the Jews and did not support them to get a homeland in Palestine. The US and the British were the one of the most powerful countries in the world and without them, I believe, Israel would not be in Palestine now.
  • Jamal Abdul Nasser's Reign

    Jamal Abdul Nasser's Reign
Jamal Abdul Nasser's affected the Middle East in an effective way since he increased the influence of nationalism. I believe that he was not only a president for Egypt, he was a president to the whole Middle Eastern area. He grew the seed of nationalsim and Arabism in the Arabs which caused the Arabs to wake up and comprehend that they need to have spirit against other opposing ountires.
  • Creation of United Arab Republic

    Creation of United Arab Republic
The United Arab Republic was a union that lasted for less than five years. Quwwati of Syria and Nassir of Egypt signed a treaty based on nationalism and socialism. It obviously did not work since Egypt was the dominant party of this republic. I believe it is important because it shows the ugly truth that the Arabs that they will never completely unite since leaders only wants power for themselves or their country, not the whole Middle East
  • The Six Day War

    The Six Day War
The Six Day War is when Israel attacked parts of the Middle East like the Sinai, Golan Heights, Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. It caused 600,000 Palestianians to move out of their homes to other neighboring countries. It affected the world because it is the one of the many reasons that directly caused Palestine to be how it is right now.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
October War is when Egypt and Syria crossed the Suez Canal which Israel once said that no one can pass through it. I believe it is one of the most important events in the 1900s because Arabs really needed to win to redeem. They did not really do anything related to Israel territories but they spiritually won. They conveyed to Israelis that Arabs can win if they really wanted to and set their mind on their goal.
