Tai Zu known as Hong Wu, founded the MIng Dynasty in 1368. A former Buddhist monk organized a rebellion against the previous dynasty, then Hong Wu became the first emperer to rule the Ming dynasty. The picture is of Hong Wu.
The Ming Dynasty was known for its outstandingly beautiful pottery, and a common design was blue patterns on a white backround. -

In 1398, Hung Wu died, he was known as a vicious leader that never trusted his advisors. Once he died, Jianwen Emperor, his younger son, took over the dynasty. The picture is of Hung Wu, the second emperor to rule the Ing dynasty.

Yongle, Hong Wu's grandson, got together an army, and started a civil war against his uncle. This war lasted almost four years. This picture is of the war.

After the dynasty surrendered, Yongle took over and became emperor. He was the third emperor of the Ming dynasty.

In 1405, the emperor really wanted to enlarge overseas influence, so he ordered Zhange He to navigate a trip to the West Sea. He lead more than 27,00 people into the ocean on 62 ships. The visisted 10 different countries.
Over time many more explorations were organized. The Ming Dynasty was known for it's explorations. -
The construction of the Ming dynasty tombs started in 1409 but ended with the fall of the dynasty in 1644.

In 1421, Yong Le moved the capital from Nanjing to Bejjing, to strengthen the borders.

Renzong otherwise known as Hongxi Emperor, reigned from 1424-1425. His reign only lasted for a year for he had strong political pressure and pressure from his father.

In 1449, the emperor, Ying Zong, and his army were of 500,000 were on an expedition. Then a tribe of the Mongolians, surrounded them, after a series of mistakes made by the generals. The Mongolians pretended to be friendly, only to get a better angle for an attack, they killed most of the soldiers.

The Yao and Miao people of Guangxi rebelled against the idea of Emperor Shenzong. He taxed the people too much for things. He also limited the rights of workers which caused the people to disagree with his ideas. They decided to rebell against him. The Ming army had 180,000 men and 1,000 Mongols and destroyed this rebbellion within 2 years.

From 1480-1568, the emperor decided to spend more time with his family. So the Grand Secretary mostly ruled the country. While ruling, he took no interest in the goverment and corrupted China.

Ming forces led by Qi Jiguang defeat Japanese pirates at Cengang.

The Ming dynasty's decline started during Emperor Shenzong's reign. He reigned from 1572-1620. Although the decline started with him, he dynasty still lasted until 1644.

In 1644, the Manchus leader, Li Tzu-ch'eng, attacked Bejjing. Without much resistance they entered the city, and the Ming dynasty fell. The last emperer hanged himself.
