    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The first military engagments of the Revolutionary War. The leaders of the Patriots were John Hancock and Sam Adams. The leader of the British was General Thomas Gage. 174 British soldiers were wounded and 73 were killed of its orginal force of 1,500. 39 Americans were injured and 49 were killed of their orginal forc of 3,800. This was an American victory.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    This was a bitter sweet win of the British. This being because the British had many casualties. It actually took place on Breeds Hill instead of Bunker Hill. It was this battle that made both sides realize that it would take many battles to settle this matter.
  • Battle of Quebec

    Battle of Quebec
    This was an attempt of the Americans to push the British out of the city of Quebec and capture the city. This was a failed attempt. The British were aware of the plans of the Americans many days before the happening. The British only had 5 of there men killed, while the Americans had 48 of their men killed
  • The Battle of Long Island

    The Battle of Long Island
    The Battle of Long Island was a British Victory. The British realized that New York was an important area used for communications through the colonies. They therefore headed toward the city. George Washington realized this as well, and brought is troops to New York. In the battle, the colonists lost a quarter of their men from being killed, wounded, or captured. While the British lost much less men. The colonists were forced to retreat before they lost any more men.
  • The Battle of Trenton

    This battle occured after General George Washington's troops crossed the Delaware River. This was a wonderful win for the patriots. The patriots only lost 2 men, 5 were wounded, and none were captured. While, the British lost 22 men, 86 were wounded, and 906 were captured. It is noted that it was easy to defeat the British in this battle because their men were drunk from the beer they drank for the occassion of Christmas. The British were extremely vulnerable.
  • The Battle of Brandywine

    The Battle of Brandywine
    The Patriots were out smarted by General Howe's troops. Howe had some of his men in one place, and others marching across Brandywine creek beyond Washington's right flank. The Patriots didn't notice this until it was too late. The Patriots were forced to retreat.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    This was a significant turning point for the military during the war. This battle caused France to join the conflict. The British were headed toward a fort near Saratoga, yet when they got there, they had a surprise. The Americans were waiting for them, and the British ended up surrendering to the Americans.
  • The Battle of Rhode Island

    This battle is often seen as insignifcant, although it wasn't. It was fought in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. This was also the first battle fought when the French were on the Americans' side. No one really won this battle. Although, this battle showed that just because the French were on the Patriot's side, didn't mean it would make the war end faster.

    The Battle of King's Mountain
    This battle ended as a victory for the American colonists. Although there were more men in the British force, the colonist still defeated the British. This batte caused the British to realize that the southern American Colonists would no back to the British. Therefore, the British had to change their strategy. The commander for Britain in this battle was, Patrick Ferguson. The commandesr for the Colonists were James Johnston, John Sevier, and William Campbell.
  • The Battle of Cowpens

    The Battle of Cowpens
    This was a victory of the Patriot forces. The British forces had 110 killed, 200 wounded, and 712 captured. The United States had 25 killed, 124 wounded, and none captured. This was a turning point in the reconquest of South Carolina from the British.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    This was the last battle of the American Revolution. The French aided the Americans by helping them block the harbor that the British depended so much upon. Without the harbor, this allowed the Americans and the French to beat Great Britain.
