Iverson was born on June 7, 1975 in Hampton, Virginia. His mother dropped out of school at 15 to take care of him, yet his biological father left Allen before he was even 1.

For years, Allen's favorite sport was football, and that's all he wanted to play for the rest of his life. He was the best player on his team every year by far. Iverson always thought basketball was soft and boring, until his mom signed him up for a basketball camp over the summer of 1988, and Allen instantly fell in love with the game.

Iverson continued playing both basketball and football throughout high school, leading Bethel High School to Virginia state champs in both sports.

Allen Iverson attended Georgetown University straight after high school, where he excelled in basketball and received many amazing titles like the Big East Defensive Player of the Year award and the Big East Rookie of the Year.

After only 2 short seasons at Georgetown, he was selected for the NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, a basketball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After a historic first season with the 76ers, and even leading the team to the playoffs, Iverson is awarded with the NBA's Rookie of the Year Award.

He signed a six year contract extension for a sum of $70 million. The Philadelphia 76ers qualified for the playoffs this year as well.

Allen Iverson marries the girl he met in high school over the summer of 2001. However, the got divorced over the winter of 2013 after 12 years.

In 2006, Iverson was sent to the Denver Nuggets. He won his first game with the team, and to top that, he scored 22 points and 10 assists.

Shortly after, the Denver Nuggets traded him to the Detroit Pistons and following this he switched from a number three jersey to a number one jersey for his new team.

In 2009, Allen returned to play for the Philadelphia 76ers and was welcomed into the team. However, the following year he left the team because of his daughters health issues, but came back to the team the following season.

In 2013, during a press conference after a great win that night, Iverson stated he would be retiring because he had lost his desire to play basketball.
