Since Henry was married to Margot, he was free from the Massacre, but 3,000 Protestants were still killed even though Charles order for the killing to stop. ther was a total 70,000 kills during the massacre in all of France. The Massacre Lasted since August to October.

Her husband though did not, he was no longer loving to her and promised to marry another woman if sh bore him a son because Margot hasn't been able to do so. Marot was enraged and sent may letters to him. he Huniliated her in public and so she decided to live o her own causing the rise of may rumors. the court was a disaster and Margot's mother regreted to have her back and urged her to leave. Morgat left on August 9.

    The Death of Francis isolated Margot because she was allied to him, his death also altered and complicated the political situation in France. Navarre was recognized as a posible heir of France and this shamed Margot even more because she hasn't been able to give Henry a possible heir. Margot's mother pushed her to convince Henry to become Catholic so that he could be an acceptable heir, but she failed and angered her mother.

Margot became the Honorary aunt of Henry's children and the queen's advisor.After Henry's assassination. Marie continued to trust Margot. She stayed in Paris until she died.

All the rumurs about her were not known very well until she died and the memoirs she wrote were published 13 years after her death. Marguerite de Valois was buried in the mausoleum of the Valois in the basilica of Saint-Denis.
