The Sudan and Saudia Arabia had kicked out Bin Laden. Al Queda's fellow extremist group, the Taliban, offered Bin Laden and his followers refuge in Afghanistan. -
Hassan and his Wife die at the hands of the Taliban
Hassan and his wife Faranza are dragged out of Amir's childhood home and are shot to death by Taliban insurgents. Their son Sohrab is placed in an orphanage. -
