    Jayavarman II is enthroned as a god-king (Also known as Devarja) and the kingdom of Ankor Wat is found. He died in 850CE
  • Period: Jan 1, 834 to Dec 31, 1145

    834-1145 CE

    Angkor Wat is constructed and the Khmer Empire starts to exapand. During this time, Buddhism became a crucial religion.
  • Indravarman I

    Indravarman I

    After Jayavarman II's death, Indravarman I becomes king. He ordered for the construction of Preah Ko and Bakhong Temples.
  • Period: Nov 30, 1177 to Nov 30, 1178

    1177-1178 CE

    Khmer's easter-territory is attacked by the Cham kingdom
  • Jayavarman VII Defeats the Chams
    Jan 1, 1181

    Jayavarman VII Defeats the Chams

    Jayavarman VII, famous for defeating Chams, becomes king, sacks Chams capital in reprisal in 1191
  • Period: Nov 30, 1243 to Nov 30, 1298

    Jayavarman VIII's change in religion

    After Jayavarman VIII was in charge, he orded the current main religion, Buddhism, to be destroyed and change the new main religion to Hinduism.
  • Period: Nov 30, 1300 to Nov 30, 1399

    Buddism becomes important again

    During this time, Buddism became as important as it was before the sudden change of religion Hinduism.

    The Khmer Empire is attacked by the Thai army which leads to the end of the empire
  • Khmer empire is forgotten

    Khmer empire is forgotten

    After the Khmer empire was abandoned, couple of centuries have past and now jungles grow out of it and the location is completlely forgotten.
