The beginning

Jayavarman II declared himself as “chakravartin” or “god king”. This was the beginning of the era of the Khmer Empire.

Death of Jayavarman V

After many kings of the Jayavarman family came and went, Udayadityavarman I was now King of the Kher Empire. This sparked controversy, and led to the next event.

Civil war

Jan 1, 1002

After the King died, a civil war was announced by Jayaviravarman and Suryavarman I who both believed that they deserved to be King.

New King

Jan 1, 1010

Suryavarman I became the new, uncontested King of the Khmer Empire after defeating Jayaviravarman in the civil war.

New King

Jan 1, 1107

Dharanindravarman I became King after a series of Kings becoming King, and then dying. He was now granted with the power.

Attempted invasion of Vietnam

Jan 1, 1132

An attempted invasion of Vietnam was defeated, as the King struggled to pay for the army's needs.

Thai invasion

Jan 1, 1431

The Thai invade on the Khmer Empire and the army of Cambodia struggle to hold them off, again becasue of the money problem. They didn't have enough money to pay for their needs.
