    This was the first Nazi concentration camp. It was originally made to hold political prisoners, but then turned into a death camp, where countless Jews died.

    This act was passed by the German Reichstag, in order to give Hitler more power. The act enabled him to have dictatorship over Germany.
  • Book Burnings

    Book Burnings
    Some university students would burn the books that were considered "un-German". Some even burned books solely because they were written by Jewish authors.
  • The Auschwitz Protocols

    The Auschwitz Protocols
    Two people named Alfred Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba escaped from Auschwitz and wrote a detailed account of their experiences. This was translated later in that year.
  • The Liberation of Auschwitz

    The Liberation of Auschwitz
    In 1945, the Red Army liberated a huge concentration camp, called Auschwitz. They helped free more that 7,650 prisoners.
  • Effects on the Jewish Population

    There were many, many bad things that came from the holocaust, one of them being how many people died. Countless Jewish people died, as well as people who weren't Jewish. People were forced out of their homes and jobs, only because of their ethnicity, or their looks. Around 6 million Jewish people were killed in concentration camps, or by Nazis. All of these Jews were European, which put a huge dent of Europe's population as a whole

    One thing we can do to prevent things like this happening is to make sure that power over the government is controlled. You can't give one man too much power, or he will abuse it. That's why we need to make sure that power is evened out through the government.
