    BASIC Beginners All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Software revolutionized the software industry. Bill Gates and Paul Allen used BASIC to write their program for Atlair, and it would later lead to the creation of Microsoft.

  • Apple 1

    Apple 1 Shortly after the Altair was released, Steve Wozniak, an employee at Hewlett-Packard and Steve Jobs who was working for Atari at the time, began to collaborate and created the Apple 1. Later that year the Apple Computer Company was formed.

    Apple IIA year after Apple 1 was released, Apple II was born. It included a color monitor, sound, and game paddles. One of its biggest innovations was the ROM. It was an instant success and would eventually provide users with spreadsheet software, word processing capabilities, and desktop publishing software. These programs would lead to a revluotion in functions beyond gaming and special programming.
