  • Pictures sent through wires

    Paul Nipkow uses rotating disks to move multiple pictures through wires.
  • Creation of the first television

    The first television was created and viewed at the World Fair in Paris of that year.
  • Capture of moving pictures

    John Logie Baird designs a way to capture moving pictures, thus paving the way for television programs and movies.
  • First test of television

    Television was successfully tested publically for the first time between New York and Washington DC.

    The first television station is developed. It is called W3XK and owned by Charles Jenkins.

    The era of digital television had begun. America takes the plunge and makes the switch to all-digital television, with the rest of the world following over the next several years.
