  • Marconi sent and recieved the first radio signal.

  • Lee De Forest created the audion tube

  • The Titanic survivors survived due to the fact that the marine industry wanted to use radios to communicate distress signals via radio transmission

  • 8XK, now 1020 KDKA, became the first radio station created. It still functions today in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

  • Uncle Charlie (Personal Radio Stations) become popular.

  • WEAF aired a 10 minute 'commercial' or toll broadcast, fpr an apartment complex charging $50.00.

  • The FRC is established to create permits and liscences to own an Uncle Charlie, or personal radio transmitter

  • The Great Depression starts

  • Major Edwin Armstrong invents the FM transmitter, which made for stronger and higher quality sound.

  • Family Medium was a program the entire family could enjoy. It included: Big Band Music, Story Hour, Situational Comedies, and Dramas

  • Radio's demise is caused by the TV becoming more popular

  • Jukeboxes, records, and Live concerts were one of the only ways to listen to music in the 1940s

  • Famous shows in the Golden Era: Superman, Amos N Anoy, GunSmoke, The Shadow, Dick Tracey, and Little Orphan Annie.

  • In the Netherlands, the Boombox (Radio Recorder) comes out as a way to record radio broadcasts.

  • The CD comes out in Japan as a new, and cheaper alternative to the record

  • Sirius XM Holdings came out as a new radio broadcasting system on the satellite radio.

  • Pandora Internet Radio comes out a new way to stream muisc, albums, and comedy online

  • Youtube comes out as a quick way to stream personally uploaded videos online, as well as music videos and audio recordings.
