  • Windows 1.0

    Windows 1.0
    On Nov.20, 1985, Windows 1.0 was released. It offers multitasking of the existing MS-DOS. There were also small updates along the way.
    1.2-(May, 1986) International release.
    1.3-(August, 1986) Included updates that made it work with the 1.2 release, like drivers for European keyboards. Included screen and printer drivers.
    1.4-(April, 1987) Added support for the new IBM comps. Also, Microsoft and IBM announced OS/2 and its graphical Presentation Manager, which was supposed to replace MS-DOS.
  • Windows 2.0

    Windows 2.0
    Allowed application windows to overlap. Included keyboard shortcuts, and the ability to minimize and maximize as well as the previous zoom and iconize from Windows 1.0.
    2.10-(May 27, 1988) This version can take advantage of the specific features of the Intel 80286 and Intel 80386 processors. Hard disk was needed for the first installation of Windows.
    2.11-(March 13, 1989) Included minor changes in memory.

    The first successful version of MS.It included an update that made it easier to move data greater than 64KB, as the fist two could only move one segment of RAM. Also reduced Unrecoverable Application Errors.
    3.2-(Nov 2, 1993) A simplified Chinese version released in the Chinese market.

    Practically simplified the "plug and play" features. There was a major change made to the core of the operating system. Also introduced the task bar, start button, and the way the user navigates.

    Windows 98 included Internet Explorer. This was the first Windows product to use Windows Driver Model.
