The introduction of basketball

In early December 1891, Canadian American Dr. James Naismith,[2] a physical education professor at the International Young Men's Christian Association Training School, invented basketball to keep his class entertained during the winter.

Introduced to Olympics

1936 was the year basketball was introduced to the Olympics and they were all played outdoors on converted tennis courts. The U.S. dominated the competition.
