    A terrorist by the name of Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, this event set off a chain reaction in the alliance system that made the largest war that Europe and the word has ever seen.

    A Serbian Assassin killed the Archduke of Austria and thus, Austria declared war on Serbia

  • The Schlieffen Plan is Designed

    A plan that Germany made for attack on France and then Russia, the plan was to race west to defeat France and then return east to defeat Russia

  • German Soldiers From France are Sent to Aid Forces on the Eastern Front

    German troops from France are sent to the east to aid the German soldiers on the Eastern Front against Russias attacks.

  • Allies attack the Germans on the Western Front (The First Battle on the Marne)

    In the valley of Marne River, where the western front lies, every available soldier from France and from the Allies attacked the Germans, after four days of fighting, the germans retreated.

  • Battle on The Eastern Front; Germans Launch Huge Attack Against the French

    In February during 1915, the Germans had aunched a massive attack in France near Verdun, it is predicted that both sides lost more than 300,000 men.

    Russias War Effort Weakens

    Due to Russia not yet being an industrializaed nation, it was unable to always provide food, clothing, ammunition and other neccesities to their soldiers, the other Allies were uncapable of sending Russia the utilities due to the German Navals blocking the Baltic Sea.

    Communist leader Vladimir Ilyich Lenin seized power, seeking to remove Russia from the war by offering Germany a truce.

    In March 1918, Germany and Russia signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, ending the war between both nations.

    In July 1918 the Allies and Germans clashed at the Second Battle of the Marne.

    After four years of battle, WWI finally came to an end. The leaders of the nations gathered outside Paris to work out the peace terms.

    The Treaty of The Treaty of Versailles between the Allied Powers and Germany was signed on June 18th 1919, the treaty created a League of Nations, an international association to keep peace among the nations.
