The grand tour is when young English nobles considered going on the grand tour to be a significant rite of passage. A grand tourist ,who travelled with a tutor world frequently took a ship to cross through the English channel before traveling through France ,stopping in Paris ,Venice , Florence ,Rome Milan and Naples . the grand tour lasted a least a year .

development of package holidays

in 1758 , cox and kings were founded -widely recognised to be the first travel company . the initial purpose of the company was to provide a range of services to the military . Thomas cook began his international travel company in 1841 which began a hit .Thomas cook was arranging trips for the next three summers from Leicester , Nottingham , derby and Birmingham .

the Morden idea of package holidays was founded by Vladimir raitz in the 1950's . in the 18 century package holidays have evolved massively including global flights , accommodation , transport and even activities making travel more convenient . now there are way more travel company's these included tui ,jet 2 and expedia .now you can access package holidays in person and online .

in 1804 trains started to develop , then steam train were introduced to help move goods and get place to place quicker . steam trains were mostly used for moving coal down to the mines .

A spa town is a resort town based in mineral spa. patrons visited the spa to take water for their health benefits .In Britain they had a variety of the spa towns which then became popular in the 17 century

the increase in leisure time is primarily due to paid holidays entitlement . in 1938 , after pressure from unions and the international labour originations , the government passed the holidays with the pay act .

the rise and fall of holiday camps

the golden ages of of the holiday camps were in the fifties and sixties , after the war there was a great rush to the coast . the holiday camps provided what they were looking for food , reasonable prices and the growth of holiday camps increased rapidly in the late forties and early fifties . many of the holiday camps were taken over by the military . in the early seventies holiday camps found it hard to compete with new cheap foreign holidays

queen Victoria started the trend of visiting different beach's in the UK . she recognised the good health properties of the sea and what it can do for you . in the late 1940 health experts noticed that seawater included a wealth of the same minerals found in spa waters .

how the internet has changed the industry

the 21 century has seen the growth of the internet . the internet has provided customers with the opportunity to seek information about destinations , activities , prices and availability before going to a local travel agent . Now withe internet you can look at hotels , book flights and book holidays . The purchase of airline tickets is the most frequent online purchase for UK adults . Seven out of ten people now book their holidays or flights online.

the rise of budget airlines

the deregulation of the Us airline industry accelerated the use of low coast carries in the us and the trend spread worldwide between 1990 and 2020 . low coast carries offer lower fares but travellers have to pau an extra fee for additional services . the average price of domestic round trip ticket in the US fell from $647.94 in 1990 .
