  • MS-DOS

    MS-DOS
    In 1981 the MS-DOS operating system was introduced to the public. This Operating system helped make a bridge between computer programs and hardware. It made keyboard commands a more common everyday thing. The picture shows the MS-DOS symbol.
  • Windows 1.0 is announced

    Windows 1.0 is announced
    Windows was announced to the public. It used a mouse control instead of keyboard commands which made the computer easier to learn and understand for the general public.
  • Windows 2.0 is released

    Windows 2.0 is released
    Windows 2.0 is released and introduced keyboard shortcuts and larger memory and faster operating. Around this time computers are being seen in offices and are becoming a part of everyday life.
  • Windows 3.0 is announced

    Windows 3.0 is announced
    Windows 3.0 sells ten million copies. This is the most widely used Microsoft operating system in that time.
  • Windows 95

    Microsoft releases the Windows 95 which is an upgrade to windows. It sells 7 million copies in its first five weeks of sales. this is record setting for Microsoft. Along with the new debut of the Windows 95 Microsoft released the first version of the Internet Explorer.
  • Windows 98 and Me

    Windows 98 and Me
    Windows 98 was released and was specificially targeted towards the general public. It was described as a computer that "works better, plays better" by some. The Windows 98 was the last version to be based on the MS-DOS operating system. After this the introduction of the Windows Me was to come. The Me featured enhanced characteristics involving digital media.

    The Windows XP was an entire new look. It was improved on security features and had online security updates.
  • Windows Vista

    Windows Vista
    The Windows Vista featured the strongest security system yet and had features to prevent a program from potentially harming anything. The Vista had a more modernized look with its new taskbar and start button.
  • Windows 7 and up

    Windows 7 and up
