    The election of 1800 changed the U.S. forever. Jefferson and Aaron Burr where federalists in the fight for presidency. Jefferson was elected and changed a lot of things for the country.

    The Embargo Act banned trade with everyone for the US. The US had to start manufacturing their own goods which Jefferson didn't like because he wanted to be a agricultural country

    The Non-Intercourse Act was different from the Embargo Act because it only banned trade with Britain and France. This fixed their economy and their problems with Britain who was impressing soldiers.

    The Cumberland Road began construction in 1815 and it was the first road built using federal funds and gave transportation to wheeling, Columbus Ohio, and eventually Illinois. It was then called the national road in 1833.

    The Erie Canal was build for easy trading between Albany and Buffalo. This eventually made New York a popular trading town for merchants.

    The Rush-Bagot Agreement limited naval power for the US and Canada in the Great lakes. Settling disputes over fishing and trade.

    The Convention of 1818 gave the US fishing rights off parts of the Newfoundland and Labrador coasts. It also set the boarder between US and Canada at 49 N latitude as far west as the Rocky Mountains.

    The Adams-Onis Treaty settled border disputes with Spain and the US. Spain gave east Florida to US and the US gave up claims to what is now Texas. The US also paid Spain $5 million dollars.

    McCulloch v Maryland allowed the government to build a national bank which raised the economy and and made a single currency.

    The Missouri Compromise gave Missouri and Maine permission to join the US. Missouri would be a slave state and Maine would a free state to keep things even. Also, slavery will be prohibited in any states above the 36,30 latitude line.

    James Monroe passes a law that states Britain cannot interfere with the US and the US cant interfere with Britain or any other colonies already settled before them.

    The Election of 1818 was very controversial because people thought Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams mad a corrupt bargain that Adams to win the presidency and Clay would be secretary of state while Andrew Jackson lost with the popular vote.

    Gibbons v Ogden gave the supreme Court power to regulate interstate commerce. Which they are allowed to control of trade or transportation of things in the US.
