    This group was made for those who have a common concern for the future for humanity. They strive to make a difference in the world. Members of this group include notable scientists, economists, businessmen, high level civil servants and former heads of state from around the world.
  • James Lovelock's Gaia Hypothesis

    James Lovelock's Gaia Hypothesis
    This was formulated by James Lovelock in the 1970's. It proposes that organisms interact with their inorganic surroundings on Earth to form a synergistic self-regulating, complex system that helps to maintain and perpetuate the conditions for life on the planet.

    This was to focus on how we as humans affect .the environment. They had a main concern to focus on facing environmental issues. The UN had 1346 ideas that supported the resolution.
  • Bhopal Disaster

    It was a gas leak that occurred in India. It was considered the worst industrial disaster. Over 500,000 people were exposed to toxic chemicals. There were 3,787 deaths were recorded and 558,125 recorded injuries
  • Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior

    Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior
    This was a bombing operation organized by the French foreign intelligence. Two operatives sank the flagship of the Greenpeace fleet called the Rainbow Warrior. The Rainbow Warrior was on its way to protest against the French planning to do nuclear testing in Moruroa.

    Reactor 4 overheated causing it to explode. After exploding ,the debris went everywhere causing the spread of the toxic fumes. Everyone had to evacuate the area . For years the environment has not been the same. now the environment is slowly starting to go back to normal.

    This says that State Parties commit to reducing greenhouse gas emission. Doing this would help reduces the man-made CO2 emissions and global warming.

    172 governments participated at this event. At this event they discussed the production of hazardous chemicals, alternate substitutes for fossil fuels, new reliance of public transportation to reduce CO2 emissions, and water supply/shortages.

    It was a non-binding, voluntary action plan regarding sustainable development. It was made at the Earth Summit (UN Conference) in Rio de Juneiro during 1992 but wasn't published later until 1993.

    Here they wanted to finalize the Kyoto Protocol and make a final international agreement on climate change. They wanted this to be in effect in 2014.
