The Eight Acts

  • Proclamation Act

    Proclamation Act
    The colonist coulnt move by the Appalachian Mts. and coulnt have any more problems with the Ntives. The colonist were angrey and ignored the law.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    They had to pay for war debts and traded in smuggled goods. The law passed a tax on sugar, mollasses and others like coffee, silt, wine, and indigo.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The colonist had to let solders live in their home and provide them a place to sleep and had to provide food for them. They did not like this at all but, they had no choice.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    They had to pay for war debts. They even had to carry on official stamps showing a tax that had been paid included wills, diplomas, newspapers and contracts. They protested, resistance to the tax, petitioned, had secret societies and even boycotted and were formed to fight right back.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    Gained contoll of the american colonies. they still continued ignored the law though.
  • Townshed Act

    Townshed Act
    There is three parts in the new law. They plased duties (import taxe) on goods like paper, paint, glass, led, and tea. They suspended the NY assembly until new yorkers agreed to pay for their housing troops.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    They had to raise revenue (money) also to control the tea trade. They had to sell the tea trade to the colonies. It was too difficult to smuggle (steal) so the colonies were forced to pay the tax by buying the tea.
  • Corercive Act

    Corercive Act
    They had to punish the massachusettes colony and serve a warning to all of the other colonies. They alowed British to house troops. They agreeded to ban all trade with Britian. They created the first continental congress.
