    South Australia was established as a free colony in 1836, It was taken from the southern part of NSW. Kangaroo Island and other islands where included.

    The European settlement had slowly been expanding to northern Australia. In 1847 they made their main settlement in Port Curtis, but it sadly failed after 6 months.
  • Victoria

    Parts of NSW had been settled by escaped convicts and whalers and sealers. in 1802 to warn of the french they created an official settlement but that was soon abandoned. In 1836 Tasmania started bringing large flocks of sheep to the area. this area became Vitoria in 1851.

    Queensland started with a convict settlement at Morten bay. Graziers, miners and farmers started colonising costal and inland areas. In 1859 Queensland was created.

    in 1861 south Australia gained the NSW 'Panhandle' when its western border was continued to the west Australia border.

    in 1862 Queensland western boundary was further to give it access to a possible north port. In 1863 the area of NSW north of South Australia was added to south Australia.
