    Magna Carta 14-16th century

    -An agreement that instituted limits on the rights of the British Monarch and established fundmental rights for the King's sugjects.
    -The King's sugjects got individual right's including freedom from unlawful imprisonment.
  • Sep 29, 1350

    Renaissance 14-16th century

    -The Renaissance was a cultural movement that was seen as the middle stage between the Middle Ages and the modern times.
    -The Renaissance had a great deal of influence on the development of the modern society, culture and artistic expression.
  • Sep 29, 1517

    Reformation

    -The Reformation was the division within the Western Christianity.
    -It led to the creation of the new nationial Protestant Churches.
  • Sep 29, 1550

    Haudenosaunee Confederacy

    -One of the longest existing democracies in the world.
    -The principles of the confederacy was freedom of speech and individual rights and that is what our society is working towards.
  • Industrial Revolution

    -Improvements in technology, increased cempetition, science and rational thought contributed to the Industrial Revolution.
    -After the revolution individuals gained the right to vote and had responsiblity for their own lives. Most people who lived in cities and worked in factories or farms own their own land.
  • The Enlightment- 18th century

    -The Enlightment was a cultural movement of intellectuals in Europe and the American colonies.
    -Its purpose was to reform society.
    -It was responsible for reforming many of the principles of classical liberalism.
  • American Revolution (1754-1781)

    -13 colonies joined together to break free of the British Empire, which becomes the United States of America.
    -There was a serve impact on the society, the British sent in invasion armies then George Washington raised armies of his own. They would need to find men inorder to creat the armies and that can have a major affect on families.
  • The French Revolution

    -The French Revolution had a major impact on France and most of Europe.
    -The French society underwent a hige transformation.
    -The absolute monarcy that had ruled for centuries collasped in three years.
  • Changes to Class System- 19th century

    -Individuals were born into a class that they would have to live with for the rest of their life.
    -Today individuals have more opportunities to make the most of their lives.
  • Ancient Greek Democracy- 508 BC

    -Known as one of the first democracies
    -Survived for 2 centuries
    -The Athenian Leader's invention was one of ancient Greece's most enduring contributions to the modern world.
