  • 130 BCE

    The power of steam

    It is believed that an ancient Greek, the Hero of Alexandria was the first person to discover the power of steam. in 130 BC he created a model engine that used jets of steam to turn a shaft.
  • The military steam wagon

    In 1770 Joseph Cugnot, a french engineer built a steam wagon for the military's artillery.
  • The steam carriage

    One of the pioneers of steam was a guy named William Murdock. In 1786 he built a model steam carriage.
  • Stephensons Rocket

    Stephensons Rocket was a steam engine locomotive, but the engine on it was a totally different design to other steam engines making it the fastest steam powered vehicle of its time.
  • Steam coaches in Britain

    Britain's roads had steam coaches on them in the 1830s, and this is where the first accident happened. A steam carriage ecploded in Paisley, Scotland, in July 1834.
  • The Tram

    In the 1830s Harlem and New Orleans introduced public horse drawn trams.
  • The Dewitt Clinton

    Dewitt Clinton was America's third steam train.
  • Stephensons North Star

    Stephenson built North star in 1837 for the great Western Railway.
  • The bicycle

    Kirkpatrick Macmillan, a Scottish blacksmith, made the first real bicycle
  • The first actual motorcycle

    The first motorcycle was invented in 1884, called the Reitwagen. It was built by Gottlieb Daimler, unfortunately it was very slow and someone walking could easily keep up with it.
  • The introduction of motor cars

    The first motor car was built by Karl Benz and was the first of its kind built in England.
  • Mass production

    Three years after their first car th Type-70 Rolls-Royce won the Gold Medal for reliability at the RAC Scottish Trial over 3,218 km and entered mass production.
  • Buses

    In 1910 the petrol powered B-type omnibus started carrying passengers in London
  • Citroen

    The Citroen 2CV nicknamed 'The Snail' was probably the most popular small car of its time and was loved by many people.
  • Aston Martin

    One of the worlds most famous cars is the Aston Martin DB5 driven by James Bond in the 1964 film Goldfinger
  • Racing

    Super car racing became a thing in around 2005 when the real speed came. There were Nascars, F1 cars, Porsche, Audi, and Mclaren.
